The Bell Inn Cricket Team in Bath, Somerset, England has raised £950 towards the Urlings Cricket Club House Fundraising Campaign. Their mission was to support grass roots cricket in the West Indies with a Caribbean Celebration at The Bell Inn. Everyone had a great night and the pub was jam packed with cricket and music lovers.
The fun evening was a cricket celebration uniting two great community cricket clubs in Bath, England and Antigua, West Indies with memories of Sir Vivian Richards playing in Bath and Somerset. It included The Bell Cricket Team Awards with special awards given for best bowler, batsman as well as most ducks, best on field celebration. Music came from Crinkle Cuts, and the highlight was the Caribbean beats specially selected by the live DJ’s.
The raffle was the star of the night raising the whopping £950 for Urlings CC and prize winners taking home a Somerset CC signed shirt; a copy of Fire in Babylon: How the West Indies cricket team brought a nation to its feet, signed by legend Sir Andy Roberts; Antiguan Rum; a massage with the amazing Maxine Kear of Neals Yard; tickets for the Rocky Horror Show at the Theatre Royal, Little Cinema, and Bath City FC tickets; a Food Basket from Caribbean Spot; a meal for two at Aqua, 3 day passes for Bath Spa Hotel’s Spa, and even a saxophone lesson with Bath’s Blowout Sax.
Tom Chapman, Captain, The Bell Cricket Club did a brilliant job organizing the night that topped off the Cricket Season. He said: “’It was a great party. I particularly enjoyed the goat curry cooked by Caribbean Kitchen! We are so pleased that the raffle was a success in raising funds for such a good cause. Thanks very much to all the local businesses who donated prizes, to everyone who bought tickets and all The Bell customers, staff and owners who got involved. We are looking forward to seeing the club house built and better facilities for the local kids. More funds are needed so if you missed out on our evening please do contribute.”
